Michael Wiesweg was born in Essen, Germany, in 1960.

Intensively concentrated on photography already during his schooldays he attended The Technical College of Photograhy in Berlin, Germany, after graduating from highschool and a one-year internship. Working as assistant cameraman since the early 1980's for feature films and tv movies his most important teachers became German DoPs Konrad Kotowski and Jürgen Jürges.

Michael Wiesweg shot his first feature film in 1990, Wonderyears, with director Arend Agthe and worked on numerous very different films for both cinema and television in the following years.

Michael Wiesweg lives with his family in Berlin and Brandenburg.
